 Q: What Voting Ward am I in and Where do I vote?

A.  1.0501   Wards and Voting Precincts.  The City shall be divided into two wards, which shall be designated
      respectively as Wards One and Two. 
    
      Ward One will encompass all that portion of the City lying West of a line drawn on the middle of 4th Street
      from the Southern City Limits to Lovely Avenue, and North of a line drawn on the middle of Lovely Avenue
      from 4th Street to Douglas Drive, and West of a line drawn on the middle of Douglas Drive from Lovely
      Avenue to Elm Avenue, South of a line drawn on the middle of Elm Avenue from Douglas Drive to 3rd
      Street, and West of a line drawn on the middle of 3rd Street from Elm Avenue to the Northern City Limits.
      This area may commonly be called the West Side.
 
      Ward Two will encompass all that portion of the City lying East of a line drawn on the middle of 4th Street
      from the Southern City Limits to Lovely Avenue, and South of a line drawn on the middle of Lovely Avenue
      from 4th Street to Douglas Drive, and East of a line drawn on the middle of Douglas Drive from Lovely
      Avenue to Elm Avenue, North of a line drawn on the middle of Elm Avenue from Douglas Drive to 3rd
      Street, and East of a line drawn on the middle of 3rd Street from Elm Avenue to the Northern City Limits. 
     This area may commonly be called the East Side. 
 
Voting location for the Municipal Election will be 503 3rd Street, Baltic SD 57003. 

 Q: Building Permits

A:  Building permits are required on all New Construction, home remodeling, re-shingling/re-siding,
     lower level completions, home additions, flatwork, fences and storage sheds.
     
     A site plan to scale is required before approval can be given.
 
     Building permits can be obtained from the City Office during regular office hours. 
     
     Please call South Dakota One Call at 1-800-781-7474 at least 48 hours before doing any digging.

 Q: How do I get water/sewer service?

A:  The City of Baltic requires a $140 deposit for water and sewer hookup.
     This deposit is fully refundable to you should you move and your account is in good standing.
     You are required to complete an application (which you can download on the Forms Page) for service. 
     Please stop at City Hall located at 130 St. Olaf Avenue during regular office hours to set up
     water and sewer service.

 Q: How do I pay my water/sewer/garbage bill?

A:  The City of Baltic Utilities Bill can be paid in a variety of ways for your convenience:
      -  By Mail to PO Box 327, Baltic
      -  In Person at City Hall (there is a Utilities slot at the front of the building for after hours payments)
      -  Via your personal banking's on-line bill pay program
      -  You may also pay by credit/debit card either in person, at www.baltic.govoffice.com or by
         phone at 605-529-5497                  (additional fees may apply)
     
All bills are due by the 21st of each month to avoid a $10 late charge

 Q: Law Enforcement

A.  The City of Baltic contracts Law Enforcement with the Minnehaha County Sheriff Department

 Q: What are the snow fall rules?

A.  Any possibility of measurable snow accumulation (2 inches) and a snow alert will automatically occur
     and all on-street parking shall be prohibited on both sides of the street and regardless of the directional
     run of that street. Vehicles parked on the street are subject to ticketing and towing. Parking may resume
     when streets have been cleared of snow completely from curb to curb.
 
6.0306Parking During Snow Removal Alert. During any snow removal alert, parking of vehicles
on any public street, or leaving any other movable property item upon any public street, within the
City shall be prohibited, on both sides of any street and regardless of the directional run of any street.
Off street parking will be made available for residents on the North side of the Baltic Lounge parking
lot and on the south New Baltic Heights Park parking lot.
 

 Q: When and where does my City Council Meet

A:  The City Council of Baltic meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise noted) at 7:00 p.m.
      at City Hall, Baltic, SD. All meetings are open to the public. Agendas are posted on
      the website www.baltic.govoffice.com and at City Hall 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
